- We look forward to productions from any university, high school and elementary school in Hungary - Please note that it is the sole responsibility of the troupes to check copyright issues and whether they are required to pay royalties to the author or publishing house for the performance of the play they have chosen. - Troupes will perform their plays in the theater hall of the venue, and will be provided an authentic theater experience (e.g. stage setting, lighting and sound) by the organizers and the professional theater technicians of the venue. Please note that the venue has Hungarian-speaking staff. - The performances will be discussed at workshops and group discussions following the plays, with the participation of experts from the field. Note that there will not be a competition for awards among the performers.
High school and university section - Productions should be in English and the running time should be between 30 and 80 minutes. - The Drama Festival will be scheduled for a Friday-Saturday-Sunday. Please keep in mind that we look forward to welcoming ONLY those troupes that will stay for the whole duration of the Festival (estimated duration: from late Friday morning to early Sunday afternoon) and will participate in all the programs the Festival will offer.
Elementary school section - Elementary school groups will perform on the first day of the Festival. - Productions should be in English and the running time should be between 15 and 30 minutes. - Elementary school groups will not be required to stay for the whole three days of the Festival.
Besides the plays, there will be discussions on best practices and fun drama activities, as well as skills development workshops and presentations, which will be open to teachers of English as a foreign language and also the groups that are invited to perform at the Drama Festival, ensuring an overall educational and entertaining festival experience.
To celebrate and look back on the 10 years of the Festival, the organizers will invite past players for a Success Stories evening event, where players will share how the Drama Festival and performing arts in general impacted their lives and led to successful careers.
American Corner Veszprém offers to cover accommodation in dormitories for the high school and university troupes, for the players and maximum 2 teachers or helpers per group. Accommodation will be discussed in detail later on with the applicants listed for invitation.Troupes will need to provide for their own travel costs, meals and any additional expenses.
Application deadline:Midnight, December 15, 2017(No extension possible)
After the deadline, applications will be evaluated by the organizing committee, and selected applicants will be contacted to participate in a video interview with the organizers in early January, 2018.
Successful applicants will be invited to participate in the Drama Festival by mid-January, 2018.
