Roundtable Discussion on The EU's Role & Responsibility in International Mediation
On behalf of the University of Kent, Brussels School of International Studies (BSIS), the Brussels Negotiation and Mediation Forum will be holding a Roundtable Discussion on "The European Union’s Role & Responsibility in International Mediation".
Issues such as EU mediation processes, external intervention, regional cooperation, and ethics will all be addressed. The primary question of interest is as follows: In the context of the ongoing and intensifying civil unrest in Syria should the role of the EU, in light of the recent recognition from the Nobel Peace Prize, assume greater responsibility in international
mediation?
Panelists include:

• Dr. Laura Davis – BSIS Visiting Lecturer
• Brendan McAllister – Senior Associate, mediatEUr
• Dr. Jamie Shea – Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, NATO
• Dr. Tom Casier – BSIS Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Jean Monnet Chair
Once panelists have been given an opportunity to introduce and debate their perspectives, we will be holding a Q&A session followed by refreshments to allow attendees to interact and challenge the experts.
