MetaMusic is an independent non-profit organization, founded in July of 2020 by ADISQ, APEM, ARTISTI, CQM, GMMQ, SOCAN, SOPROQ, SPACQ and UDA, whose mandate is to bring together key players in the music industry in order to strengthen, reflect and provide the industry in Quebec and Canada with the tools and best practices to regain control of its metadata and allow the discoverability of local musical content.
After the publication of its referential in 2020, MetaMusic began to develop a tool for capturing, indexing and distributing musical works' metadata. Intended for all creators and rights holders, this tool is unique as it takes into account the intricacies of creators in Quebec and Canada, making it easier for you to manage your metadata and all its mandatory deposits.
Good news! MetaMusic is about to launch the first version of its tool, and you will soon be invited to take part in Beta testing within the next few months. If you wish to be part of it, we'd love for you to tell us about your needs and current practices.
From writing and composition to the design of the cover through the multiple studio sessions, metadata concerns everyone who touches an album directly or indirectly. Remember, if it went in the cover, today it goes on the internet!
This is also an opportunity to invite you to participate in the Beta version by next fall. A section is provided at the end of the survey to leave your contact details and the details of your releases for the next few months.
Important: The questions asked are determined by the main role you play in the production process, including the recording studio, the mixing, the mastering and even the design of the cover and booklet. Each role has a maximum of 12 short questions assigned to it and will only take a maximum of 7-8 minutes to complete.
** Do you play multiple roles? No problem, you can answer the survey several times! Your answers will allow us to guide our choices for the future and allow us to better distribute all the credits associated to a product.
** Please share this questionnaire widely. Since each project is different, the answers may vary, even if you are in the same organization! This survey is hosted on Google Forms but is also available on our website
