Thank you for your interest in Need in Deed! We are currently meeting with teachers interested in learning more about the Need in Deed teacher network for the 2026-27 school year.
Please fill out the form below and a Need in Deed staff member will reach out to you. We look forward to talking with you about the possibility of joining our vibrant network of committed Philadelphia public school educators in 2026! We can also discuss ways for you to connect with us throughout the current school year if you're interested.
The Need in Deed framework makes teaching and learning come alive by blending real world context, empathy, student-led inquiry, and civic engagement into the school's existing curriculum. With the support of Need in Deed staff, teachers guide their students through a year-long process to meet academic goals through defining a social issue or neighborhood asset that is meaningful to them, investigating the issue, and taking action through a culminating project. Need in Deed provides you with free training and one-on-one support throughout the school year, including helping with logistics so you don't have to do all the heavy lifting. We are here for you!
MEMBERSHIP IN OUR NETWORK IS TOTALLY FREE!
In order to participate all you need is to:
- Be a 3rd-8th grade teacher in a Philadelphia district or charter school
- Have a group of students that you work with regularly. Teachers that push in or pull students out of class are welcome to apply as long as you meet regularly with a group of students for instruction.
- Attend the Summer Institute. This mandatory training provides a comprehensive introduction to the Need in Deed My Voice Framework and connects you to other network teachers as well as program staff who will support you throughout the school year. The 2026 Summer Institute will be scheduled for a weekend in July, with the possibility of an August make-up date. These dates will be confirmed and communicated in the spring.
- Attend a monthly after-school training during the school year. This typically happens on the last Monday of the month from 4:30-6:30pm over Zoom.
We look forward to talking with you soon!
