Duties and responsibilities of the officers
A. It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all meetings of the council.  He or she shall attend town hall meetings with Birck officials and present reasonable problems, concerns, or suggestions brought to the council by students.  He or she shall perform the duties that are usually executed by the chief officer.  He or she shall not vote on motions except those ending in a tie vote. He or she shall not amend, circumvent, or supersede the voted decisions of the council and shall be supportive and cooperative in the realization of these decisions.  He or she shall serve as a representative of the council when necessary.  He or she shall serve as an ex-officio member of all committees.  He or she shall assist in the preparation of the council yearly agenda.  He or she shall work with the Executive Committee to create council meeting agendas.  He or she shall submit the council meeting agenda to the Secretary before council meetings.  
 
B. It shall be the duty of the Vice-President to assist the President in the performance of their duties and to preside during the absence of the President.  He or she shall attend town hall meetings with Birck officials and present reasonable problems, concerns, or suggestions brought to the council by students.  He or she shall organize the council yearly agenda and preside over Committee Chairpersons. He or she shall serve as an ex-officio member of all committees.  He or she shall maintain the NSAC website by giving information to the Birck staff person in charge of the Birck website and updating the NSAC profile page on the Get Involved site.
 
C. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to record the official minutes and to maintain the official roster of council members.  He or she shall distribute the minutes via email to all council members.  He or she shall reserve rooms for council meetings and send email reminders of meeting times and places.  He or she shall record the attendance of each member at council meetings.  He or she shall distribute the agenda at council meetings.
 
D. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to receive and record all funds.  He or she shall keep accounts, deposit the organization’s funds, and make expenditures in a manner approved by the Business Office for Student Organizations. He or she shall give receipts for all money received and shall maintain all financial records.  He or she determine the budget needed to carry out council activities.  He or she shall present the budget to the council for approval.  He or she will solicit and obtain funds from appropriate resources.  He or she shall present to the council a biannual financial report.  Lastly, it is the treasurer's responsibility to organize, allocate funds, and implement a rotation schedule for providing refreshments for all NSAC meetings.
