Northwestern PMHA Matching
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in receiving a Peer Mental Health Advocate (PMHA) through Project LETS at Northwestern University.
Peer Mental Health Advocates are students with lived experience of mental illness, disability, trauma, and/or neurodivergence. We are committed to supporting our fellow students and empowering them to advocate on behalf of their own illness/disability through one-on-one peer counseling support, connecting students to on/off-campus resources, and offering education related to a variety of mental health and wellness topics.
Though we have been trained through the national Project LETS org, we want to make it clear that we are not licensed clinical therapists or counselors. If you are considering seeking clinical mental health care, we can help you prepare to take that step. If your concerns are beyond the scope of our training, we will support you to access one or more of the many resources on/off campus.
We do not disclose or report suicidality, self-injury, psychosis, eating disorders, etc. to any institution, including any associated with Northwestern University. Additionally, the PMHA program is not a 24 hour response service, and it is the responsibility of the peer and the PMHA to collectively determine boundaries for their partnership.
