Add Scott Rudin to the “Do Not Work” List
Following the news that Scott Rudin has resigned from the Broadway League, we would like to reiterate that Scott Rudin should be added to the Actors Equity Association “Do Not Work” list. As per an Equity email, the reason for Rudin to not be added to this list was because Rudin “is a producing member of the Broadway League, and as such, he has agreed to abide by Equity’s collective bargaining agreements.” The email goes on further to note: “Unless or until his status as a Broadway League producer changes, we will focus on making sure that his productions follow the language in our collective bargaining agreements – which includes maintaining a safe workplace.”

Following Rudin’s resignation from the Broadway League, we again call on the union to take firm action against Rudin and prevent him from working with Equity members in the future. While it is unclear what “stepping aside,” entails for Rudin, we do know that stepping aside is not the same as stepping down. To prevent any future incidents of harassment or bullying on productions he may be a silent partner, Equity must take preventative steps now to protect its members. Now that Scott Rudin’s status in the Broadway League has changed, he must be added to the do not work list.
