Como ya sabes el espíritu del Letterheads es el de un aprendizaje horizontal de inspiración mutua, con lo que te animamos a aportar tu grano de arena compartiendo con el resto tu pericia y tu técnica. Si estás interesado/a en hacer alguna demostración técnica específica (oro, fileteado, casual, etc), puedes plantearla más adelante en este mismo formulario. ¡Anímate!

Para este Letterheads contaremos con algunas actividades extra:

— Charla sobre el diseño gráfico tradicional a través del proyecto Letras Recuperadas del maestro Juan Nava.

— Mike Meyer nos ha confirmado su asistencia y su disposición a hacer alguna demostración para los más iniciados!*

— Ruta en bicicleta por algunos ghost-signs escondidos de l’Horta.**

— Estampación serigráfica de camistas y totebags (o lo que traigas!) a cargo de David Vanderh.

En cuanto a materiales, en el Letterheads tendréis a vuestra disposición esmaltes en una amplia gama de colores, guantes, trapos, vasos, cinta y demás aparejos, así como papel kraft para practicar y paneles de colores para vuestra pieza principal. También tendremos tientos (o mahl-sticks) por si alguien necesita.

Aunque cada rotulista traerá sus pinceles, tendremos un stand con productos de rotulación a la venta, importados por A.S. Handover para la ocasión. Como muchos de vosotros contáis a estas alturas con publicaciones, fanzines, camisetas y demás, nos gustaría colocar otro stand con vuestros productos relacionados con el oficio. Más abajo podéis indicar qué os gustaría traer.

Como ya sabéis, la tradición marca que al final de cada Letterheads se realice una subasta benéfica de las piezas (hechas allí o traídas de casa) cuyo beneficio se destina íntegro a una causa social. En nuestro caso destinaremos el dinero a la Fundació Horta Sud, organización vecinal de referencia en la ayuda a los afectados de la Dana en Valencia.

The event will take place at the Museu de l'Horta in the small town of Almàssera, located in the “Horta Nord” of Valencia, among the beautiful fields of the Valencian orchard.

THE LETTERHEADS:

Welcome to the first Letterhead of Valencia!

As you know, the spirit of Letterheads is one of horizontal learning of mutual inspiration, so we encourage you to contribute with your bit, sharing with the rest of us your experience and technique. If you are interested in carrying out a specific technical demonstration (gold, fileteado, casual, etc.), you can specify it later in this same form. Sharing is living!

For this Letterheads we will have some extra activities:

— Talk about the craft of traditional lettering in the 70s and 80s, by old school sign painters Ricardo Moreno and Paco Vivó.
— Talk on traditional graphic design through the Letras Recuperadas project by the master Juan Nava.
— Mike Meyer has confirmed his attendance and his willingness to do some demonstrations for the more initiated!*

— Screening of the documentary "Tipos Que Importan" by Miguel Maestro, about old school sign painters in Valencia.
— Bicycle route through some hidden ghost-signs of l'Horta.**
— T-shirt and totebag screen printing by David Vanderh.

As for materials, the Letterheads will have at your disposal enamel paints in a wide range of colors, plus gloves, rags, cups, tape and other accessories, as well as kraft paper for practice and colour panels for the main piece.  We will also have mahl-sticks in case anyone needs one.

Although each sign painter will bring his own brushes, we will have a stand with aign painting products for sale, directly imported from A.S. Handover. As many of you already have publications, fanzines, t-shirts and more stuff, we would like to set up another stand with other products related to the trade. Below in this form can indicate what you would like to bring.

As you know, tradition dictates that at the end of each Letterheads it takes place an auction of the pieces —made there or brought from home—, with the collection going entirely to a charitable cause. In this case, we will donate the money to the Fundació Horta Sud, a local organization that leads help to those affected by Dana floods in Valencia.

** Due to the distance between the different signs we will do this route by bike. In Valencia you can find rentals from €10/day. Almàssera, where we will do the Letterheads, is 20-30 minutes from the center of Valencia by bike, accessible by a beautiful bike line between the orchards (“Via Xurra”).



TICKETS

The cost of the ticket is 130€.
Sending this form will serve as a preliminary step to registration. Once received, and within approximately one week, you will receive an email with the payment information.

IMPORTANT: In order to facilitate the organisation of the event we need to have an idea of the total capacity beforehand, so we will set a deadline for registration until Monday 31 April (inclusive).

The ticket will include three meals (lunch), to be chosen between Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday  (depending on your arrival and departure), provided by Casa Maru, a local business in Almàssera, as well as coffee, tea, pastries and fruit for lunch and snacks.


HOW TO GET HERE

SUBWAY/METRO
Take Line 3 (red), direction Rafelbunyol. This line goes directly from the Airport* and passes by the main train station (“València Estació del Nord”**). The stop is called like the village, “Almàssera”, and is in Zone A. The 10-trip pass, called “Suma10”, costs €4, and is also valid for buses.

*If you take the metro at the Airport you will have to pay a single €5.80 ticket. There is an alternative: the “Roses” metro stop is a 10-minute walk from the airport (Google Maps shows you the way) and is Zone A. So if you walk and take the metro there, it will take you directly to Almàssera with the regular Zone-A ticket (Suma10).
**There is another train station, ‘Joaquín Sorolla’, located about a 15-minute walk from Estació del Nord. There is a free bus that connects both stations. This option is more advisable than the one recommended by Google Maps (taking L1 first at ‘Jesús’ and transferring to L3 at ‘Àngel Guimerà’).

BY CAR
Accessible via Tavernes Blanques (Av. Constitución-Av. Cortes Valencianas-Ctra. Barcelona), via Alboraya (Ronda Este-CV311) or via the V-21 to Port Saplaya and CV-311 to Almàssera. There is plenty of parking there.

BY BICYCLE
If you are staying in Valencia, arriving to the village by bike is highly recommended: the landscape is flat, the weather is good and you will always find a bike lane to ride on. From the viewing point (Torre Miramar) the bike line, “Via Verde” or “Vía Xurra” will take you to Almàssera in 15 minutes. To give you an idea, from the train station you would arrive in less than 30 minutes.

ACCOMMODATION

Although accommodation is already a personal choice, we recommend:

— If you are going to travel by metro, look for options that are close to the L3 route, such as Carmen (Ciutat Vella), Blasco Ibáñez, Benimaclet or Alboraya, or even Meliana (the next town after Almàssera).
— If you are going by car, we recommend avoiding the historic centre and looking for locations near main roads that make it easy to get out of the city quickly.
— If you choose to cycle, the closer the better. The neighbourhoods of Benimaclet, Amistat, La Saïdia, or nearby towns such as Alboraya, Tavernes Blanques or Bonrepós i Mirambell are good options.
