Dear Principal Dyanthe,

I understand that the school is required to administer the New York State math, ELA and science tests to all students.  I also understand that I have a parental right (as confirmed by ESSA and acknowledged by city and state officials) to refuse the tests.  I am completing this form to exercise my rights.  I do not allow my child to participate in the spring 2026 New York State tests in English Language Arts (ELA), math and science, as well as any field tests for future state ELA and math exams.  Please do not administer these tests to my child.

This is my personal choice as a parent. My decision to refuse in no way reflects on the hard work and talent of the teachers, administration, or staff at the school.

Please note that city officials have stated that students cannot be punished, forced to go to summer school, held back, or forced to have a promotion portfolio solely because they did not participate in the state tests.
