Position: Montessori Preschool Teacher Leader / Co Head of School
Location: Cambridge, MA- USA
Employment Type: Full-Time (20h in the classroom + 20 hours of administrative tasks)

Start date: part time onboarding over the Summer 2025 and full time starting September 2025 

About Us

Capucine Montessori School is a French/English, dual immersion, Montessori classroom, serving children ages 2.9 to 6 years, and their families. Through carefully designed, developmentally appropriate Montessori environments, we guide children on their journey of discovery and growth. We are looking for a passionate and experienced educational leader to help uphold our school’s mission and support our talented team of educators.

Position Summary

The Montessori Preschool Teacher Leader / Co-head of School is responsible for both educational leadership and operational management, ensuring that our preschool provides a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experience. This position requires a leader who can inspire staff, connect with families, and oversee the daily operations of our school to create an environment where each child flourishes.

Key ResponsibilitiesEducational Leadership
  • Montessori Program Oversight: Develop and uphold the school’s Montessori philosophy, supporting a rich learning environment aligned with Montessori principles.

  • Teacher Development: Mentor and guide preschool teachers, fostering professional growth, conducting regular classroom observations, and providing constructive feedback.

  • Curriculum Enhancement: Collaborate with teachers to design and implement a curriculum that promotes independence, creativity, and social-emotional development in alignment with Montessori methods.

  • Professional Development: Coordinate training opportunities for staff to enhance their Montessori practices, child development knowledge, and classroom management skills.

Family and Community Engagement
  • Parent Communication: Build strong relationships with families, facilitating open communication, and providing regular updates on student progress and school events with the staff and the co-head of school

  • Community Building: Foster a collaborative and inclusive community through family events, parent education workshops, and opportunities for families to engage with the school.

Operational Leadership
  • Team Management: Oversee with the co-head of school hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews for teaching and support staff, ensuring alignment with the school’s values and goals.

  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage the school’s budget, allocate resources responsibly, ensure financial sustainability, prepare Fiscal year taxes with CPA, 

  • Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee daily administrative and operational tasks to ensure smooth functioning of the preschool, including scheduling, supplies management, and facility upkeep.

Qualifications
  • Education and Certification: Montessori certification (AMS, AMI, or equivalent) required

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years experienced lead experience preferred, prior leadership or administrative experience is a plus.

  • Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to foster a warm and respectful learning environment, rooted in Montessori principles, bilingual French-English is a plus

Compensation + Benefits

70-80K depending on experience 

Health, Dental, 401K (after a year of service), lunch provided, paid vacations, sick days
