STOP THE SHERIFF FROM OUTSOURCING MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES!
The Sheriff is coming to the Board of Supervisors on AUGUST 4TH to request approval to move forward with a complete outsourcing and privatization of medical and behavioral health services in San Diego County detention facilities.
The Sheriff is choosing the wrong kind of healthcare system without any examination of other options. We shouldn't turn our backs on highly-trained health care professionals, during a pandemic! It will make a current bad situation, much worse.
Instead, the County should be determining how to make the system better (better for medical care of patients in detention and better for our hardworking county workers).
We need a system that connects health services of San Diego County detention facilities with available services outside of the detention center! This will help facilitate better outcomes for those incarcerated upon release and can help lower recidivism.
We need an integrated system of care would lead to better health outcomes for patients, reduce recidivism and a better system overall. This system could be overseen by the county’s own Health and Human Services Department.
Board of Supervisors vote NO on the Sheriff’s proposal to outsource and privitize these vital services!
