Public union "fair share" fees
With the U.S. Supreme Court's split decision on union "fair share" fees, the status quo remains unchanged: Unionized teachers must opt out of paying a fee for non-political representation by their union. Many observers and union leaders believed that had the court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs that Friedrichs v. CTA would have ended those compulsory fees for all public-sector unions.
