Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the BCCC Refugee Youth Project in Spring 2016!
We encourage you to learn more about our organization, programs, tutor roles, volunteer roles, and our expectations at the following link:
http://bit.ly/1FLwtlORYP will begin our training and recruitment for tutors in December 2015 and early January 2016. Our tutoring programs generally begin in late January and last until early May.
As a first step, all volunteers must attend an orientation prior to becoming a tutor. Generally, volunteer tutors are placed at after-school sites based on their availability, proximity, age group preference, school affiliation, site need, or other relevant factors or interests.
New volunteer orientations for tutors will be hosted throughout the month January ONLY. They are hosted at the RYP office in Highlandtown or held on one of our partner’s campuses (Loyola University Maryland, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Johns Hopkins University, Notre Dame Preparatory School, Towson University or Catonsville High School).
Volunteer placements are contingent upon completing the entire application process (filling out a volunteer application, passing a background check and attending orientation) and occur on a rolling basis until spots are filled. Application forms will be emailed to you or made available at our orientation session.
Orientations are 2.5 to 3 hours long and include an overview of refugee resettlement, volunteer responsibilities and expectations, and tutor training.
Please enter your contact information below so that we can notify you when we will host our next trainings.
Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Or, if you'd like to learn more about becoming a volunteer mentor to a refugee family, please visit our website to learn more:
