3rd Annual CSL Run WITH YOU
Dear CSL Community:
Over the last seven years, CSL has taken gradual strides toward instilling the critical Jewish and life values of Tikkun Olam (Repair the World). We believe very strongly in exposing our campers to as many opportunities to grow in this realm and therefore have programmed accordingly. From full day commitments, myriad projects, and full summer initiatives, this has become a key component to the Camp Seneca Lake experience.
In 2012, we began The CSL Run, an event intended to get campers involved with worthy causes. This program is really quite simple – expose the community to a handful of different charities that directly relate to CSL in some way; then let the campers run as many laps as they can, connect it to a Jewish value that is discussed in camp; raising more money with each. In the middle of the first year, something interesting happened. Through our active social media platforms, various parents and alumni started contacting us that they wanted to match our efforts through mirroring donations to the various organizations. In 2013, we more intentionally approached families and alumni for their participation with specific systems in place to garner support.
One key change to the CSL Run this year is that it will be during the day after previous years being held at night. We selected this Friday, July 4th as the day for the run, knowing that most people will be available to “be with us” during the event in real time. We will be breaking The Third Annual CSL Run to the community on Thursday evening but wanted to get it on the radar of our families now in hopes of gaining your participation and support Friday. You can help us simply by following along on the Blog, Twitter, and Instagram from 1-3 PM on Friday. There will be continuous updates on our collective running and fundraising efforts – we hope that you will follow and support in any way that you can.
