Here at the University of Miami, we pride ourselves on our commitment to environmental sustainability. We believe water should be safe, accessible and affordable for all. Water is a human right and basic public service, not a commodity for exploit.
Simply put, providing tap water is a better choice than bottled – for our health, our environment and our wallets. Bottled water is wasteful in the amount of plastic produced and is quite unnecessary when considering how much excess waste is created by a single, non-reusable bottle.
As members of the University of Miami community, we ask that you join us in taking back the tap, by:
* No longer buying bottled water for personal use and working to reduce the use of bottled water during campus events.
* Keep investing in more well-maintained drinking water fountains and filling stations while encouraging reusable water bottles for students, faculty and staff.
* Supporting policies that promote healthy public water systems and that ensure the maintenance of our water distribution systems, in Miami, nationally, and globally.
By completing this form, I support the Take Back the Tap campaign to invest in our public water infrastructure, decrease bottled water usage on campus and across the globe.
