Center for Open Science Meet-Up

The Center for Open Science (http://centerforopenscience.org/) is a non-profit, technology start-up in Charlottesville, VA. We will be attending the North Carolina Masters and PhD Career Fair (https://sites.google.com/site/ncmastersphdfair/) this week and are eager to meet developers with common open source interests and those who are seeking internships or jobs (http://cos.io/jobs).

Wednesday - 7 PM at Milltown (http://www.dininganddrinking.com) in Chapel Hill

Thursday - before or after the TriPy meetup in Raleigh (http://tripython.org/Members/sgambino/nov-13-mtg)

A bit more info: we're basically a Python dev shop. Our flagship software is the Open Science Framework (http://openscienceframework.org; flask, pymongo, celery, mako, etc.), and we have a variety of other open source projects including an ODM, a docx conversion utility, and the early-workings of a torrent system (for science!). The OSF has been called many things: Github for Science (moderately accurate), Facebook for Science (not accurate), but we're shaping ourselves to be the Heroku for Science, that is a platform for facilitating the use of other tools in the scientist's workflow.
