Which SCC is right for you?

SCC's are available for many different populations at many different times. Please choose the SCC that you would most like to participate in. If there is more than one that you are interested in, please fill out the 2nd and 3rd choice options. Open groups are open to all parishioners, no matter their age, gender, or marital status. The Spanish Speaking group is open to members of the Hispanic community, as well as students and resident parishioners who speak Spanish. The Single Catholic Faith parents group is open to parents in mixed faith or single Catholic faith parenting households. Student groups include those for undergraduates (including open undergrad groups as well as groups for men, women, freshmen and seniors) and graduate/young professionals. Most SCCs will take place at St. Mary’s. Groups specified as ‘off-site’ will take place in the home of the facilitator, but are open to all members of the specified population.

New this fall: Topic Specific SCCs

The following four groups will ask members to reflect on particular topics or shared life experiences. Special topic SCCs are listed at the end of the option list. Bereavement Group: For those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Scripturally based, the group will focus on support and caring for each other. New Facilitators Group: Experience a hand on approach to what it means to be a SCC facilitator in anticipation of likely facilitating a group in Lent or the future. The SCC group will be led by a trained facilitator who will follow the same sequence of weekly scripture readings as all the other Fall SCC groups but with an emphasis on building skills in listening and leading a faith sharing group. Sexuality and the Sacred: Will holistically explore human sexuality encouraging examination of topics on sexual identity, chastity, celibacy, men and women’s approach to sexuality, etc. This group will include reflection exercises, speakers and discussion. Participants will be expected to read articles in preparation for each group. Group is open for undergraduate women only. Recovery Group: A group of men and women, most with a 12-Step background, engaged in prayer, reflection, and discussion of scripture and the spiritual life. It is not a 12-Step meeting.
