As part of the Getabout Scheme, Corsenside Parish Council is working with CAN to conduct a local transport survey to gain a better understanding of unmet transport needs in our parish and to see if there are any ways these needs can be resolved.
We would be grateful if you could take a little time to help us with this work by completing the enclosed transport questionnaire. Please complete this whether or not you use the bus services, as the survey will both capture your transport needs and / or offer you the opportunity to volunteer to help residents in your local community who have no access to transport.
As you will be aware, levels of public sector funding available for bus services has been declining for some time and therefore it may be difficult to meet unmet transport needs through traditional bus services. However, it may be possible to make small adjustments to existing routes to better meet current need or there may be other potential solutions, for example: voluntary car or taxi sharing schemes which could provide transport to the nearest hub to connect with other bus services.
Please note, this includes details of an upcoming change to the 815 bus service which will be replaced by a shared taxi service in August. This change is being introduced on a trial basis as declining patronage has made the existing bus service unsustainable but Northumberland County Council is committed to continuing a service for the small number of regular users.
Should you have any queries or if you need any help completing this questionnaire then please contact:
