Improv Intensive Courses
Our Adult Intensives are crash courses in the philosophies and methods that Second City uses to find, explore, and create material. These programs are a great way to study our creative process, and to get you excited about how you can reach your potential.

Get an introduction to the fundamentals of improvisation. You will learn how to create environments on stage and how to develop characters and interact with your scene partner. You will learn the tenets of “Yes, and” as well as some well established improv games used by performers in the legendary Chicago improv scene. Instructors will work with the skill levels present in the classroom to create a unique experience tailored to the students, while ensuring that they get a firm grounding in The Second City's approach to improvisation.

Students will learn to think on their feet, work with an ensemble, actively listen, and confidently approach improvisation. This class is suitable for all skill levels - beginners welcome! Students who are already actors/performers will develop improvisation tools to apply to their craft, and students with any or no experience will benefit from enhanced skills in group work, performance, and communication. Plus, it's fun!

We admit 16 students per each class with a total of 2 classes and 32 students max. The course will be delivered in English.

About Second City
The Second City began as a small comedy theater, and over 59 years has grown to become today's leading brand in improv-based sketch comedy. With a variety of theaters, training centers, and full-time touring ensembles, you can find us all over the world. We've also taken improv off the stage, expanding our business to include collaborations with corporate clients, and television and film productions. And, we have more than a handful of successful Second City alum that we aren't too modest to mention, like Tina Fey, Chris Farley, Bill Murray, and Keegan-Michael Key (among many others).

The mission of The Second City Training Center is to teach the skills which underlie the work on our resident stages. The classes, taught by professionals working in their fields, are dedicated to helping students develop their artistic voice, both individually and within an ensemble, and to provide the tools and techniques needed to express that voice.

Thank you!
Yes, it's true: Second City is a 60 years old improvisational comedy enterprise and our school is the world's premier school of comedy. This year Second City and InLight are bringing together in Bucharest, the same techniques that Steve Carell and Bill Murray have approached to develop their acting skills.

We are happy to have you!

See you in April!
