RFSC Undoing Gender Workshop Registration

Participants will be introduced to Judith Butler’s groundbreaking book, Undoing Gender (2004). The workshop will take place on Friday, the 30th of July from 13:30-17:30 and consist of multimedia presentations, small group discussions, plenty of coffee breaks, reflections, and a post-workshop apéro.The goal of the workshop is to create an interdisciplinary, inclusive environment to engage with selections and central concepts from the text and to inspire participants to relate to them in meaningful ways within their lives: creatively, politically, and socially.

This workshop aims to establish a critical and transformative learning environment in which all persons can increase their knowledge on these topics. Therefore, it is important for us to acknowledge that many of the questions and concepts around gender that will be discussed are not only theoretical, but constitute and shape people’s lived experiences and identities, which requires important boundaries and requirements for equitable and safe philosophical discussions.

The workshop will be held in English; however, we are comfortable receiving and answering questions in German for any who wish to do so. If needed, we will organize small group discussions according to language preferences.

Note: As we want to encourage queer/ gender non-conforming persons -  as well as BIPOC persons to register, we will give preference to BIPOC and (gender) queer identifying persons.
