The recent Product Hunt exposure shouldn't come as much of a surprise to the rest of us in the tech/startup community.(1)(2)

More so than the elitist/bro community that PH is, here is another fun fact:

Product Hunt has been funded US$6 million by Andreessen Horowitz (3). Now imagine that Goldman Sachs was a major shareholder in the Financial Times. Without an ethics policy, any bad or "not so good" news about companies GS is invested in will get trashed at the FT. Worse than that, all good news will be inflated to favour GS companies and competitor-firms will always be seen in a bad light.

This is exactly what Product Hunt can become (or probably is) for all A16Z.

So let us try to build a better Product Hunt instead of just letting this news fade into obscurity. A fairer, more transparent and open community that helps startups get their 15 minutes and puts them onto the path of success.
