PLEASE NOTE: the Imaging Lab is open by appointment only, during the hours of 9AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.
CLASSES:
The Microscopy Lab can accommodate 20-22 students for a class demonstration on the use of our standard stereoscopes. Each student will have their own microscope to examine the ~1500 small natural samples in our Tiny Town collection, or you may bring in small samples of your own to view! Class demos can be 1-4 hours long depending on the length of your class or assignment.
Classes may also request demonstrations on pieces of advanced imaging equipment such as the 3D scanner or the Scanning Electron Microscope as it pertains to a class assignment.
INDIVIDUALS:
Interested in learning how to use the microscopes and other imaging equipment at the Nature Lab? Want to reserve time to use a piece of equipment you've already been trained on? APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED for all advanced imaging equipment and resources (see below).
Please allow 24-48hrs for a response and scheduling. Walk-in visitors to the Microscopy Lab may use stereo and compound microscopes to view Tiny Town specimens and other approved materials. The Nature Lab’s reference library (and flatbed scanner) are also available for in-house use.
If you are remote or otherwise unable to come to the Lab physically, you may also request images and 3D scans of specimens from our collection or other natural objects and materials. Please browse our online archives to see what material is already available:
