WHAT IS EMMAUS?
The Emmaus retreat is based on the account in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 24: 13-35). Two disciples encounter the risen Christ in a profound way on the road to Emmaus.
Emmaus, a weekend-long guided retreat, is designed to renew and strengthen your relationship with Jesus Christ. Participants (walking disciples) are invited to experience God’s love away from the distractions and the demands of everyday life. The weekend is an immersion in personal reflection, prayer and worship and will include the celebration of the Mass and Sacraments, faith-filled and scripture-focused conversations and fellowship. With an awakened awareness of Jesus among us, we have the opportunity to deepen our faith and meet others who share this grace-filled Emmaus journey. It is a time we set aside for personal encounter with our loving God, so alive and present in our midst.
The Retreat is for women over 21 years old.
DO YOU NEED TO BE A PRACTICING CATHOLIC TO ATTEND THE RETREAT?
You do not need to be a practicing Catholic to attend the retreat. Many women who attend the Emmaus Retreat have been distant from their faith. Through this experience, they have renewed their relationship with God, their spiritual life and their church.
