The art exhibition will be held during Deaf Women United conference week. Any Deaf women artists are welcome to participate in the exhibition. The exhibition is open to all interpretations. We are seeking works in a variety of mediums including painting, photography, mixed media, drawing, and sculpture.
Eligibility: Deaf woman, age 18 and older are eligible. All United States and International both emerging and professional may apply. No restrictions on when your artwork was created but new artworks are encouraged and preferred.
Media and Size: All 2D, 3D and video art works are eligible. Work using materials that are hazardous to the health and safety of the public will be disqualified. Any mediums that are too delicate or heavy to handle (e.g. clay or glass sculpture) may be not considered unless they are locals. Work must not exceed 5 feet in any direction and preferably weigh under 20 pounds unless you deliver your artwork yourself.
Shipping & Handling: The organization of Deaf Women United will not be responsible for shipping and handling costs nor loss, theft, or damages to work with in packaging and shipping provisions in either direction. It is recommended that you ship through insured USPS registered packaging marked valuable and in need of chain of custody with tracking information provided for both parties. It is the artist’s responsibility to include a completed return shipping label for the gallery to deliver the artwork to lender. It is recommended that you supply the registered mail (label) as well.
Insurance: The organization of Deaf Women United will not be liable for any risk or loss beyond the coverage provided by artists and all risk policy during the exhibition dates.
Donation/ For Sale/Not for Sale: If you want to donate or sell your work or don’t want to sell your work, please check appropriate box in Entry Form. Please include both the gallery and insurance value (your price). Not-for-sale works must still include insurance value and be clearly marked NFS (short for Not For Sale).
You will be informed of the status of your entry by April 20, 2019. Please note that it will not be possible to provide honoraria, or to waive the registration fee for participating artists, although the registration fee will be reduced to $300. You will have an opportunity to sell your work at the exhibit.

In this document make sure you include the following:* image* title* year* medium* dimensions* Also include a brief statement(s) up to 100 words each artwork. Include, if possible, about the philosophy behind your work-what factors or artists influence your work. Optional: ASL video statement, up to 1 minute for EACH work and .mov format post this video on either youtube or your google drive and include the link.
Posting the document in a file sharing service such as drop box or google drive and submitting a web link is required for a preliminary approval.
