Happy City of St. John’s is a non-profit organization that informs, encourages, and facilitates public dialogue around civic issues in the city of St. John’s for school-aged children, parents, guardians, friends, etc.
Every year across Canada and around the world Jane's Walks commemorates the birthday of Jane Jacobs, an urban activist who championed the voices of the everyday people in neighbourhood planning and city building. This walk is an informal, free walk that allows participants to learn about neighbourhoods and their city. Jane's Walks are a way of linking neighbourhoods, building community, initiating discussion, and discovering ways of looking at neighbourhoods. This year’s accessible Jane's Walk, in St. John's, will be held at MUN's Botanical Garden 306 Mt Scio Rd, St. John's, NL in a quiet environment away from traffic. Learn more on Eventbrite.
The FREE, sensory Jane’s Walk tour will be led by Todd Boland, Horticulturist, on Thursday, July 27th, from 6:30-7:30pm. If it rains, the date will be moved to Saturday, July 29th, 1:30-2:30pm. Check for updates on Facebook.
Capacity is limited, so we suggest participants register as early as possible. An ASL interpreter will be available from the Association of the Deaf. In order to avail of this service, you must register by July 23.
Although there is a maximum number of 25 participants for the tour, we are collecting contact information from interested parties on a first come, first served policy. Your registration will help us better accommodate you on this guided tour. We will add your email to the list and keep you posted:
