My name is Taj Ali. I am a British Pakistani journalist from Luton with an interest in British South Asian history.
I am currently writing a book on British South Asian political activism in the 20th Century. In order to document this history, I am conducting archival research and oral history interviews. Much of this history hasn't been documented and is at risk of being lost. I am travelling across the UK, meeting former members of the Indian Workers Association, the Asian Youth Movements and other organisations in order to capture this history.
There were many who defended their communities from racist violence, organised in their workplaces and took part in numerous strikes and protests. I am keen to hear from as many people as possible. If you are able to support me in my research, I would appreciate it if you could fill out this form with any information and contact details for a potential follow up call/interview. Contact information will be used solely for the purposes of research and will not be passed on without prior permission.
