Congratulations for joining Our Big Switch and being a local Hero for Zero! We’re helping 100+ local homes, schools and businesses make big switches for a low carbon future. 100 homes, businesses and schools, making key switches could save 2,000+ tons of CO2 per year and be the equivalent of planting 30,000+ trees.

Install a reverse cycle air conditioner = approx 3.4 tonnes, equiv to planting 51 trees

Reduce hot water use by one-third or more = approx 3 tonnes, equiv to planting 45 trees

Use an electric car, bike and/or public transport = approx 2.7 tonnes, equiv to planting 41 trees

Install a hot water heat pump = approx 2.5 tonnes, equiv to planting 38 trees

Switch from flying to remote work meetings and no-fly holidays = approx 1.65 tonnes, equiv to planting 25 trees

Eat seasonally, locally and plant based = approx 1.5 tonnes, equiv to planting 23 trees

Put food waste in compost or worm farm = approx 1.1 tonnes, equiv to planting 17 trees

Install home insulation to reduce power bills = approx 0.9 tonnes, equiv to planting 14 trees

Plant trees and regenerate land. Each 5 trees planted = approx 0.3 tonnes saved
