A Helping Tutor Sign-up Form
A Helping Tutor is a currently-virtual tutoring service completely free of charge offered under A Helping Elbow. In light of COVID-19 and the age of virtual learning, elementary school students need not only academic support, but also a safe community more than ever. We are dedicated to providing safe spaces and educational supplement for our youngest community members.
High school and college students are eligible to sign up as tutors. Our student demand is quite high,
so please lend an elbow by offering some of your time. Community service will be tracked and hours will be rewarded!
NOTE: A Helping Tutor is only offering its services through August 28th, 2020. Then, A Helping Tutor will be working to transition for the school year. We will then be sending out a new form for the fall. More information about the school-year program will be provided in August. We will also only be accepting sign-ups for summer tutors through July 31st, 2020.

What subjects are you comfortable tutoring?
English Language Arts (reading comprehension, vocabulary, literary analysis)
Math: (geometry, basic algebra, probability, word problems, order of operations, basic arithmetic, measurement)
Writing (basic grammar, paragraph and essay structure, style)
Test Prep (MCAS, ISEE, PARCC, or others)
English as a Second Language/ESL (language development, English oral speaking and listening, vocabulary, writing basic English sentences)
Are you able to teach in any language other than English? Many of these students will also require English as a Second Language help.
Do you have experience in tutoring or child support? If so, please tell us your experience.
Do you have experience tutoring special education/needs kids (e.g. dyslexia, Asperger)? Please specify here.

Commitment and Scheduling
Once you have indicated your availability, we will match you with a student with a similar schedule and put you in contact. You will then be responsible for creating a weekly tutoring schedule which best suits both parties, and contacting us with said schedule. Please continue to check your email for more information once you have been paired.
