You Can Make a Difference!
Taiwan Association for Future Education (TAFE) and Women Who Code Taipei are currently looking for programming facilitators who want to inspire and prepare young students for the new age of technology.
Apply now if you are up to the task!
Our goal:
We would like to encourage young students currently in 8th and 9th grades (2nd and 3rd years of middle school) to begin to learn to code, understand their potential and the possibilities in this field, and hopefully get more of them to think about being involved in this area in the future.
Time and Location:
This course is a 12-week program starting on April 24th, 2022 and ending on July 17th, 2022 (no class on May 22nd). There will be two classes: one for girls and the other for boys; both will take place on Sunday afternoons from 14:00 to 15:30. The location of the girls' class is at New Taipei Municipal Banqiao Senior High School, while the boys' class is at New Taipei Municipal Banqiao Junior High School.
Method:
Participants in this program will be introduced to the p5js library for programming computer graphics in a 12-week English-language (intermediate level) taught course. This will provide coding practice in an industry used computing language, but in a medium that is enjoyable, visual, and more immediate to meet student interests.
The two classes will feature teaching assistants who are of the same age and gender as the students and have previously learned the content.
Requirements for Facilitators:
1. Able to teach in English;
2. Able to work with teenage teacher assistants (13-17 years old);
3. Interested in working with youth, strengthening coding education.
** Facilitators do not need to commit to all 12 weeks. You will be asked about the number of weeks you can commit in this survey.**
