Bid Review Workflow for HVAC Controls Estimators
I'm researching how HVAC controls contractors and estimators evaluate bid opportunities. This survey takes about 5 minutes. I'm not selling anything - I'm trying to understand if a problem I've identified is real for others in the industry. Responses are anonymous unless you choose to share your contact info at the end.

How valuable would a tool be that reads a project's specs and plans and produces the following three outputs in minutes?

Output 1 — Project Summary: A clear overview of the project pulled from the specs and plans, including: • Building type (hospital, K-12, higher ed, laboratory, office, etc.) • Drawing set stage (budget, schematic design, construction documents, etc.) • Location and building size • Type of construction (new, renovation, addition, etc.) • Existing controls vendors on site (if specified) • Approved controls manufacturers • Key contacts (GC, architect, engineer of record, owner, etc.) • Anticipated construction start date and duration (if available) • Types of equipment on the job based on the schedule (e.g., RTUs, ERVs, AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, etc.) - so you can quickly see if the job fits your shop's wheelhouse

Output 2 — Risk & Requirements Register: A list of serious risks and special requirements buried in the specs that could cost you the project, cost you thousands of dollars, or cost you your job if missed (Buy America, cloud mandates, approved vendor lists, warranty terms, etc.). Each item cited with exact quote and page number.

Output 3 — Recommended RFIs: A complete list of unclear or ambiguous items in the specs, each with the exact location and suggested RFI language. The tool does not guess or make assumptions - if something is unclear, it tells you and recommends an RFI.
