Dear Blythewood Middle Parents and Guardians:
In accordance with the School to Work Opportunities Act, Richland Two has designated Friday, February 6, 2026 as Job Shadow Day for middle school students. Your student is invited to participate by joining you or a trusted adult at their work place, shadow from home, or virtually.
Your student’s absence from school on Job Shadow Day will be verified by completing this form prior to the Job Shadow Day deadline of Tuesday, February 3, 2025. (The school will receive an electronic copy of the form, unless there is a question or concern, there will be no additional confirmation. Submission of this form is sufficient.)This deadline will give our Attendance Secretary sufficient time to enter the excused absence. Responses for this form will be disabled by end of school on Tuesday, February 3, 2025. If this form is not completed by the deadline, the student's absence from school will not be counted as a Job Shadow Day verified absence.
Transportation to and from the work site and supervision during this activity will be the responsibility of the parent.
*If your student wishes to job shadow at a Richland Two elementary school, you must ALSO fill out the Richland Two Elementary Job Shadow Request form. This includes Richland Two teachers and staff! (It will go live Tuesday, January 6, 2025 at 7:00 A.M. You will be notified of your student's request status via email by the elementary school representative by mid January. If your student did not receive approval, they will not be permitted on the elementary school campus. (If you are a R2 employee and want your child to shadow you at your work location, that decision is up to your supervisor for clearance. Again, it is also required that you complete the Richland Two Elementary Job Shadow Request.) Bookman Elementary and Lake Carolina Upper Elementary will not be participating this year. (Again, both forms will need to be filled out!)
Those participating in Job Shadow Day are required to adhere to school code of conduct and company guidelines. Students who are not able to participate will attend school and follow their normal school day schedule.
