District uPar/Read&Write Deployment
The Iowa Department of Education is providing district-wide licenses for the Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading (uPar) and Read&Write to local education agencies. It is our goal that all students have access to grade level content.

The uPar is a tool that provides data to assist educators in determining which students are able to comprehend grade-level content through the use of a text reader and digital materials. By using the uPar educators will be able to remove identified barriers, provide targeted reading supports and increase student independence and academic success.

Read&Write is a literacy support software that includes a text reader and other reading supports which educators may then provide to students to access grade level content. Additionally, Read& Write has tools to support students with writing and study skills.  It works alongside every learner, giving them the tools to understand information and express their ideas.

This form should be completed by districts who want access to the tools. Following completion of the form, we will notify your district team when your access has been established. You may email MeLissa Lawson, at melissa.lawson@iowa.gov, with any questions you may have.
