The University of Arizona Poetry Center is thrilled to host Arizona's Poetry Out Loud program on behalf of the Arizona Commission on the Arts, The National Endowment for the Arts and Poetry Foundation.
The Poetry Center's K-12 Education team and Poetry Out Loud's Southern Arizona Regional Coordinator, Sophie Daws, will offer two virtual Poetry Out Loud Information Sessions in support of Arizona teachers interested in registering for the 2023-2024 Poetry Out Loud season. The first will occur on
Saturday, September 16, 2023 10:00 am - 11:30 am and the second on
Thursday, October 5, 2023 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. Please see the description below for additional information:
This information session is designed for teachers and school administrators interested in signing up for Poetry Out Loud during the fall registration period August 28, 2023 - October 31, 2023. In this Information Session, we will discuss the ins and outs of Poetry Out Loud. You can expect to learn the competition timeline, student requirements at each level of competition, POL rules and guidelines, and eligibility. Moreover, we will discuss what Arizona programming has to offer-- from one-on-one coaching to workshops to free classroom materials. Sophie's Information Session is a perfect opportunity to learn more about and implement a competition that promotes self-confidence and creativity through poetry!
