Police Settlement Transparency & Accountability Ordinance
This form allows those who support reforming the transparency & accountability around civil settlements and judgments involving the Chicago Police Department to register their support.
  • Since 2004, the city has paid out an average of $58 million per year.
  • So far in 2025 the city has paid out $244 million.
  • On May 21st, the city agreed to pay out a staggering $62.5 million in a single month of settlements,
The costs to taxpayers continue to skyrocket as the Chicago Police Department, the police accountability system, and the city council seem incapable of preventing the harm to communities that is the basis for this litigation. Not to mention, they continue to refuse to disclose the insiders making money off of all this litigation.

Change has to come. The PSTA can be that change.
