2022 GAR Membership Application
This is a membership application for organizations interested in joining Grassroots Asians Rising.
Our membership consists of base-building organizations in pan-Asian communities across all U.S. regions that provide political education and leadership development and lead direct action campaigns to win concrete changes. Members organize communities in various sectors including labor, housing, youth, education, queer/trans folks, environmental justice, and immigration. Our work, political direction, and strategy is informed by the most marginalized in our communities.
Expectations of GAR Membership include:
1. Adhere to GAR’s Principles of Working Together
2. Attend GAR membership meetings
3. Commitment to using GAR’s political education training materials with membership base and providing feedback to GAR
4. Aligning with GAR’s need for a long-term agenda
5. Participate in peer learning and collectively determine our impact
6. Engage in developing political alignment within GAR

Do you agree to the following?
My organization will be in unity with GAR's Principles of Working Together:
My organization is a grassroots organization (prioritizes base-building, has accountability to a community)
My organization has a base of Asian, Pacific Islander, AMEMSA, and/or Southeast Asian communities.
What work does your organization currently do?
including campaigns / outreach / member meetings / political education / leadership development etc
Who is your organization's base (members)?
This includes a general description of ethnic/racial community, class, gender compositions, etc as well as numbers and membership structure.
What is the racial or ethnic composition of your organization's community?
What do you feel like is your organization’s capacity to participate in an alliance like GAR? Anything we should keep in mind?
We know that most Asian and Pacific Islander spaces are not often inclusive of Pacific Islanders, West Asian, AMEMSA, and Southeast Asian communities as they should be. What are important practices or principles that Asian and Pacific Islander alliances need to hold in order to build greater solidarity amongst ourselves?
