FOLK CAMP CANADA, is an organisation dedicated to showcasing, and connecting people with the folk arts, music, and land based traditions of Ukraine & Eastern Europe in the Canadian context.
FCC Mission:
Engage people in meaningful artistic and creative practices rooted in the ancient folk traditions of Ukraine and Eastern Europe
cultivate greater cultural awareness and popularisation of Ukrainian and Eastern European folk music, dance, and craft
foster a growing community and network built around learning, sharing & embracing traditional arts & heritage folkways in the diverse Canadian cultural landscape
to bring people closer to the earth and one another through folk art traditions
FCC is seeking to recruit up to five Board members by June 2024.
Board
members are leaders from the nonprofit and/or for-profit sector who are
dedicated to the FCC mission, vision, values, and principles. They act
in a position of trust for the community, commit to responsible
effective governance, and promote excellence.
Board
members are active advocates and ambassadors for FCC, and fully engage
in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships
necessary to advance our mission.
This
is facilitated by knowledge of the Ukrainian and/or Eastern European
community across Canada and/or an understanding of and connection with
the broader folk arts and traditional/ heritage crafts/arts community in
Canada.
Expectations:
Apply professional and/or volunteer financial, legal, cultural, business, governance, or entrepreneurial skills and experience to help guide FCC to achieve its mission;
Contribute to the Board’s work in overseeing, monitoring and evaluating operations, including fundraising and financial management;
Attend all Board meetings and Annual General Meetings, including two in-person meetings and monthly virtual (online) meetings;
Participate on Board Committees;
Represent the organisation at special events as needed.
Appointments to the Board are for two years.

ELIGIBILITYDirectors must be:
- Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents
- At least 18 years of age at the time of nomination
- Legally competent to conduct business and enter contracts under the laws of Canada and its provinces
