I am new to mountain biking and have only ridden on dirt a few times or not at all. I am excited to be introduced to the sport.

I can handle riding on smooth trails but hesitate or walk my bike when there are small rocks, logs, roots, curbs or when it gets steep or exposed.

I am comfortable riding varying and somewhat technical, single-track terrain. I will ride over small rocks, roots, and logs but don’t always know what I did to get through. I have fairly good control of my bike while climbing and descending.

I am confident riding varying terrain and over small to large rocks, roots, logs and am fairly comfortable in switchbacks. I have good control of my bike while climbing and descending.I am comfortable standing to climb and descend and I can handle my bike at speed and in somewhat steep terrain. I ride advanced trails with medium/large obstacles and maybe small jumps and drops.

I’m an advanced technical rider. I can ride black diamond trails. I catch air over table-top jumps, will go off drops and I ride most rock/root gardens.
