6 Giras with Brazilian Umbanda Priest Maracajá are coming to California in June 2024, initiating us into a magical study of the Seven Lines of Umbanda, the Orixás, and their helpers. With decades of experience and study, Maracajá and his team bring these ceremonies to celebrate the divine, transform, deepen perception, enhance self-knowledge, and connect with the universal forces of nature. This work is rooted in the indigenous African matrices of Brazilian spiritual manifestation and tradition that invoke these archetypal points of force.
The gira is a ritual that honors movement as the sacred mysteries of these forces are revealed and unfolded through personal surrender and mediumship in various forms. In this line of spiritual technology, unlike other traditions where the teachings are received in silence, these rituals accompanied by specific drum rhythms and hymns invite us to move the body within a dynamic structure in an energetic spiral.
This cycle of ceremonies is an introduction to the knowledge, mastery, music, and traditions of ancient and contemporary intertwined rituals.
This will be Maracajá's third visit to California. Maracajá is an Umbanda Priest from the lineage of Pai do Santo Rubem Saraceni, historian and art educator with a background in theater with extensive experience in socio/cultural projects in Brazil. He researches the African and Indigenous Brazilian matrices and their developments in culture and spirituality. He has been part of the Santo Daime tradition since 2005 and has been invited to facilitate ceremonies around the world in the United States, Italy, Spain, England, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, India, Uruguay, Mexico, and Guatemala.
