Nourishing East Africa in a post-COVID 19 world - pathways and challenges in building sustainable value chains for the Africa rice sector
The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is pleased to invite you to deliver a High Level Introduction at the Independent Food Systems Dialogue “Nourishing East Africa in a post-COVID 19 world - pathways and challenges in building sustainable value chains for the Africa rice sector,” to be held on 29 July 2021, 1400-1700H East Africa time (1200-1500H BST) via Zoom and Facebook Live.
The dialogue is co-convened by the Africa Rice Center, the Agricultural Policy Research in Africa Programme of the Future Agricultures Consortium, the Centre for African Bio-Entrepreneurship, the Coalition for African Rice Development, the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
It brings together a range of stakeholders—from policymakers, ministry officials, academicians and scientists, community leaders and value chain actors—to identify and create pathways to sustainable value chains that meet domestic and regional demand for high quality, safe, climate-resilient, and nutritious rice-based agri-food systems.
The dialogue consists of two parts: a) an online public forum with stakeholders and experts at the regional level and b) breakout sessions where participants can discuss key themes.
