This workshop will provide the hands on experience to the participants to work on Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The
workshop is specifically designed for the UG students, PG students and industry personnel who wish to work in the area of automation. The workshop aims to cover the concept of automation and use of PLC in the field of automation. Also concentration will be on covering the languages and techniques used to program PLC. The detail exercise and examples on the applications of PLC will be covered during these five days. The experienced professors and engineers contributing in these areas will deliver the lectures during the program and share their experience and expertise with the participants working in this area.
Tentative Topics
Basics of automation and evolution of control system
Introduction to PLC (Block Diagram, Memory Mapping, Scan Cycle)
Input devices (various sensors) and output devices (control valves, drives etc.) to be interfaced with PLC
PLC input & output modules and connecting devices to it
PLC programming (NO, NC, set, reset, timer, counter, move instructions)
Network Communication
Selection of PLC for designing an automation system
