Nature Investigations are 45-60 minute programs that engage students in hands-on explorations of the garden through the lens of different themes, including Habitat, Pollination, Plant Adaptation, Ethnobotany, and Biodiversity. While these themes are different, they contain overarching, crosscutting concepts that connect all five programs. We can accommodate up to approximately 125 students per day for the entire program. Classes are divided into groups of up to/approximately 25 students. Schools may experience one or several of these programs depending upon how many students attend. Programs will be assigned to groups upon arrival. Students will delight in sharing what they learned and experienced in their different programs when they rejoin the larger group. This provides unique opportunities for collective learning and dynamic peer exchange.

The Arboretum requires a minimum of 1 adult per every 10 students. Adult chaperones are admitted free of charge up to a ratio of 1 adult per every 5 students. Any additional adults above the 1:5 ratio must purchase $15 general admission tickets either online or in person.

The Arboretum requires a minimum of 1 adult chaperone per every 10 students.

Adult chaperones are admitted from of charge up to 1 chaperone per every 5 students. Additional adult chaperones beyond the 1:5 ratio are required to purchase general admission tickets online or in person.

Chaperones cannot be other students, they must be staff members or adult guardians.

Students are admitted free of charge.

Classes must have a minimum of 10 students or more in order to qualify for the free school visits program.

All members of the school group must arrive/enter together at the same time.

No food is allowed in the garden. (The Arboretum does have a cafe.)

Students must be chaperoned at all times and cannot explore on their own.

Late arrival may result in programs being shortened or forfeited.
