SIGSEA Registration Form

Southeast Asia, with over 1,300 indigenous languages, is highly diverse but remains underrepresented in NLP, vision-language, and speech processing. Advancing these fields can boost research, enhance technological inclusion, and preserve cultural heritage, benefiting both the region and the world.

We introduce the ACL Special Interest Group on Southeast Asian Natural Language Processing (SIGSEA) to promote language technology development in Southeast Asia. SIGSEA aims to:

  • Spark interest in Southeast Asian NLP;
  • Encourage collaboration between academia and industry globally;
  • Facilitate the exchange of research developments in Southeast Asian NLP;
  • Organize meetings, shared tasks, and workshops in line with ACL's guidelines.

SIGSEA has been accepted by ACL. We are collecting expressions of interest in SIGSEA membership. You can refer to our current constitution here.

Everyone can join SIGSEA! 🎉

As a member, you will receive regular updates on the latest Southeast Asian NLP research and developments through the mailing list, which include latest research papers, workshop and shared task, conference, and job vacancy in Southeast Asia region.

The current organizers of SIGSEA are: (1) Holy Lovenia as President, and (2) Fajri Koto as Secretary. These are de facto positions and will be updated after one year through an election by the SIGSEA community members.
