This film focuses on first generation trauma and unaddressed family dysfunction primarily amongst women. Trickery and witchcraft along with other negative connotations have often been associated with "otherness' ' as it relates to Caribbean culture due to misrepresentation in literature. Like Greek Mythology, West Indian folklore attempts to explain the unexplainable, while sweeping hard topics under the rug and calling it an urban legend. Many older people, specifically people of the Caribbean Diaspora have relied on avoidance due to public perception, religious persecution, and lack of resources such as therapy.
