MATH PLACEMENT TEST Sign-up for Timothy Ministry @ FBCW
If you are looking to place your student for the first time in one of our middle or high school math classes for the 2018-2019 school year, please register for one of the dates and a time your student is available to take the appropriate placement test.

Students who are currently in a math class at Timothy Ministry do not have to take the placement test. A grade of ‘C’ or higher in their current math class will allow them to move on to the next math class.

The purpose of this test is to assist you in determining your child’s readiness for one of the following maths: Basic Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. Consequently, books, notes, calculators, and other people CANNOT be consulted during the test.

Your child should show all work. The test is multiple choice and many students may be able to answer some questions accurately simply by using the “process of elimination.”
In order to test all prerequisite skills, this test is relatively detailed (long).

Grading Scale:
Each question is worth 3 points.
# of problems missed Grade
1-3 A Student is prepared
4-6 B Student is prepared
7-10 C Remedial work needed
11 or more F Recommendation given for placement

A Timothy Ministry math teacher will review your child’s test and advise you on placement or remedial work. A student sometimes fails a test because they are making the same mistake repeatedly or are simply missing one concept.

*** Do not register for a math class until your student has taken the placement test. ***

Once you have registered, an email will be sent confirming your testing date. All tests will be given in room B204.

If you have any questions, you may contact Timothy Ministry @ thetimothyministry@yahoo.com.
