Micro-Nursery Stewards, Propagation Material Harvesting, Tree Donations, Volunteering and Sponsors - 1 Million Community Fruit Trees Initiative

Hello Dear Friends!

We are grateful that you are here.

We are in the development stages of our 1 Million Community Fruit Trees Initiative. We are excited to share some of our plans with you and welcome you to fill out this form if you’d like to be involved. As we have more developments and opportunities to get involved we will share them with you.

1 Million Community Fruit Trees Initiative Summary

If you’d like to learn more in-depth about our initiative, we welcome you to read here.

What Involvement and Support We are Currently Seeking:

  • Micro-Nursery Stewards. We are seeking people who would like to host and care for a Micro-Nursery. In 2025, as we will not have the educational program fully developed, we are seeking only people with experience and confidence with harvesting seeds/cuttings and growing trees.

A micro-nursery is 4’x8’ and is in the form of an air-pruning raised bed. Each micro-nursery can produce about 1,000 trees each year. Trees are planted in the nursery in the fall by cutting or seed and are ready to be harvested to be planted in their locations the following year. Micro-nurseries can be located in a residential yard or any place where they will be easily attended to. We will provide instructions to Stewards.                                                                                                                                                                      In 2026 we will have the program developed with substantial educational content and support to open this up to stewards with minimal experience to become tree growers. The ask for being a steward would be to build the nursery, harvest the materials and help with distributing the trees the next year. We will provide guidance, knowledge and support. We can also cover the costs and in some cases provide the seeds and cuttings.

  • Propagation Material Harvesting. We are seeking volunteers who would like to harvest seeds and cuttings in large quantity for us to plant in our Micro-Nurseries.

  • Tree Donations. Are you a nursery or independent grower who would like to share your trees with us to support this initiative? Let us know below.

  • Volunteers who want to put in dedicated time with our organization. We are seeking volunteers to steward micro-nurseries, collect seeds and cuttings, plant trees and more. For this, you can fill out the form below.

  • Sponsors of Micro-Nurseries and funders for our program. We are seeking 20 micro-nursery sponsors to help us establish this program. We are seeking $1,000 per Micro-Nursery which will cover the costs of establishing the Micro-Nursery as well as some admin costs.

If any of the above apples to you, we welcome you to fill out this form.

Micro-Nursery Stewards:

Are you interested in being a Steward of a Community Fruit Tree Micro-Nursery?

A micro-nursery is 4’x8’ and is in the form of an air-pruning raised bed. Each micro-nursery can produce about 1,000 trees each year. Trees are planted in the nursery in the fall or spring by cutting or seed and are ready to be harvested to be planted in their locations the following fall. Micro-nurseries can be located in a residential yard or any place where they will be easily attended to. We will provide instructions to Stewards.

We will also be using a simple 5-gallon bucket method which will allow for smaller Micro-Nursery Stewards of a couple hundred trees.

Micro-Nursery Stewards:

If you are interested in being a Steward, please share a little with us:

-Would you be able to build the micro-nursery?

-Tell us about the space you have.

-Would you be able to harvest the seeds/cuttings to produce ~1,000 trees?

-Would you be able to cover the cost of materials or would you like us to cover this cost?

-Anything else you’d like to share.
