Is your system set up to ship parcels outside of the EU?
E.g. can you print commercial invoices or send the data required for customs clearance?
What selling terms are you considering offering your EU customers post-Brexit?
DDP - Delivery duty paid. You will bear the cost of duty/VAT that is incurred on clearance into the EU. You must have fiscal representation in the importing country to ship DDP. DAP - Delivered at place. Your customer will bear the cost of duty/VAT that is incurred on clearance into the EU.
Which of these is most important to you when it comes to shipping your parcels into the EU?
What % of your current traffic shipped with DPD is B2B?
B2B - Importer in the EU is a VAT/EORI registered business
Your answer
What % of your traffic is B2C?
B2C - Importer in the EU is a private individual (ecommerce)
Your answer
Do you current hold HS/Tariff codes in your SKU data?
HS (Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System) codes are product classification codes used by members of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) to classify goods for customs purposes. An example of this is 6109100010 for cotton t-shirts, singlets and other vests, knitted or crocheted
If yes, can your system pass these HS codes through in your parcel data?
If no, would you benefit from a DPD service that could take your product information, cleanse it to make it customs compliant and pass it back to you? (e.g. add HS codes to customers products)
This service will not cleanse customers data during the label printing process, but rather cleanse their entire data library where it sits now so it's compliant when i comes to be used.
Do you have an EORI number?
In the UK, an EORI number is assigned to importers and exporters by HMRC and is used during the customs clearance process for both import and export shipments travelling to or from the EU and countries outside the EU. You can register for an EORI number easily by visiting
Aside from the information above, how would you define your Brexit strategy?
