Swing Left x College Democrats of America Campus Organizing Fellowship Application

Are you a current college student looking to organize your campus, learn new skills, and maximize your impact on winning back Democratic power in 2026 (and beyond)? We invite you to apply for the Swing Left x College Democrats of America Campus Organizing Fellowship! Whether you’re the leader of an existing campus organization or just getting started, the fellowship will equip you with the tools you need to mobilize your campus around winning Democratic power in the 2026 Midterms and beyond. 

This seven week fellowship builds toward a Weekend of Action (October 3-4) centered around mobilizing your campus community to knock doors with Ground Truth in the most competitive swing districts. With Ground Truth, we reach voters that Democratic campaigns often skip – but who we need in our coalition. Canvassers listen deeply and engage empathically with everyone (even those we disagree with!) and take notes on their conversations to update our Democratic data systems so we can better reach people. 

Applications are due August 6th, 2026. Short, one on one check-ins will be scheduled between August 10th and August 21st. The fellowship will commence on August 24th, 2026. See below for details. 

The fellowship wraps up on October 5th after the Weekend of Action, but the community and mission will remain. Fellows are encouraged to continue organizing through the midterms and beyond – and Swing Left will be there to support you and propel your work forward!

As a fellow, you will…

  • Hone your organizing skills, including recruitment tactics, goals setting, storytelling, event leadership, and strategic political planning.

  • Plan and execute Weekend of Action canvasses to maximize your impact on the most consequential midterm races.

  • Learn about what’s broken in Democratic voter contact and become an agent in fixing it with Ground Truth.

  • Be part of a nation-wide community and network of student leaders focused on winning back power for Democrats.

Swing Left Campus Fellows are…

  • Committed to building coalitions on their campus geared at winning Democratic majorities.

  • Collaborative, constructive, and creative, ready to brainstorm new organizing tactics and work in coordination with other fellows.

  • Committed to inclusivity and equity in cohort meetings, on campus, and in target districts.

  • Current college or university students in the United States.

Requirements

To complete the Campus Fellowship, fellows must fulfil approximately 30 hours over 7 weeks, including:

  • Attend 6 hours of weekly cohort meetings over the course of the 7-week program

  • Complete 18 hours of independent work outside of cohort meetings, averaging 3 hours per week

  • Participate in the Weekend of Action (October 3-4), requiring approximately 6 hours of engagement

Stipend

  • The stipend is meant to cover costs associated with the Fellowship, including food, materials, and other incidental expenses related to volunteer leadership. Supplemental resources for transportation are available on an as needed basis.

  • Fellows receive an initial $500 stipend after completing Week 1. Upon fulfilling all Fellowship requirements at the end of Week 6, Fellows receive a second $500 stipend and a certificate of completion.

Dates

Weekly cohort meetings will be conducted on Zoom, Mondays at 8pm ET/5pm PT from August 24-October 5. All required dates and times below:

  • Week 1, Aug 24

  • Week 2, Aug 31

  • Week 3, Labor Day, No Meeting (optional office hours date to be announced)

  • Week 4, Sept 14

  • Week 5, Sept 22 (Tuesday, moved due to Yom Kippur)

  • Week 6, Sept 28

  • Weekend of Action, Oct 3-4 (Note: your Weekend of Action canvass must take place at some point this weekend – exact day and time up to you!)

  • Week 7, Oct 5

  • After October 5th.. The work doesn’t stop! We encourage fellows to continue this work through the midterms with Swing Left’s support. Details to come!
