In response to the human tragedy that hit many because of Beirut explosion, it is important that persons in need of mental health support are able to access appropriate, free of charge quality mental health support.

It is normal in the first days after such a traumatic event that people experience diverse distress reactions.
With adequate support, access to basic needs including food, water, and shelter, in a dignified manner, timely information about missing loved ones, appropriate support to grieve the persons, homes and lives that citizens of Beirut lost, most people will be able to mobilize their resources and the resources of the community to cope with the pain, sorrow and distress caused by this traumatic event.

Meanwhile, some people might be experiencing severe distress and might be needing access to timely contact with a mental health professional.

With this aim, the national directory of mental health professionals -launched by the National Mental Health
Programme in partnership with the World Health Organization and the Lebanese Psychiatric Society and in
coordination with the MOPH Psychology Law committee - seeks to provide a quick initial response by creating a
directory of qualified mental health professionals (Psychiatrists and clinical psychologists) that persons can contact upon need and availability.

استجابةً للمأساة الإنسانية التي عصفت بالعديد من الناس بسبب انفجار بيروت، من المهم أن يتمكن الأشخاص الذين يحتاجون إلى دعم صحتهم النفسية من الوصول إلى دعم الصحة النفسية المناسب والمجاني.

من الطبيعي في الأيام الأولى بعد مثل هذا الحدث الصادم أن يعاني الناس من ردود أفعال متنوعة. مع الدعم الكافي، والوصول إلى الاحتياجات الأساسية بما في ذلك الغذاء والماء والمأوى، بطريقة كريمة، ومعلومات في الوقت المناسب عن أحبائهم المفقودين، والدعم المناسب لحزن الأشخاص على المنازل والأرواح التي فقدها مواطنو بيروت، سيكون معظم االناس قادرين على تعبئة مواردهم وموارد المجتمع للتعامل مع الألم والحزن والضيق الناجم عن هذا الحدث الصادم.

في هذه الأثناء، قد يعاني بعض الأشخاص من ضائقة شديدة وقد يحتاجون إلى الاتصال في الوقت المناسب بأخصائي في الصحة النفسية.

وتحقيقاً لهذا الهدف، يسعى الدليل الوطني لاختصاصيي الصحة النفسية, الذي يطلقه البرنامج الوطني للصحة النفسية بالشراكة مع منظمة الصحة العالمية والجمعية العلمية للطب النفسي وبالتنسيق مع لجنة قانون تنظيم مهنة النفساني في وزاة الصحة, إلى توفير استجابة أولية سريعة عن طريق وضع دليل بالاختصاصيين المؤهلين في مجال الصحة النفسية (اختصاصيين في علم النفس السريري وأطباء نفسيين) الذين يمكن إحالة الأشخاص إليهم عند الحاجة مع تضمين الدليل مواعيد توفر هؤلاء الأختصاصيين.
