Call for the Artphy AI Ecologies flash residency
On the weekend of April 4 - 6, 2025, Artphy is hosting a hands-on making weekend in the context of the exhibition AI Ecologies.
Are you an artist, a maker, love media arts, computational creativity, creative AI, creative coding or hardware hacking? Then this making weekend is for you! In this weekend, you can bring an existing art or creative project, but there is also room to come up with new concepts.
What does this flash residency entail? A short, intense work period in which participants work solo or in groups on creative projects around, in this case, AI Ecologies. Besides a lecture on AI Ecologies, there is a workshop on 'AI as a method' . But above all, we will get to work making ourselves, under the mentorship of the curators and experts.
There is sleeping accommodation at Artphy or you can camp in Artphy's park garden!
In terms of budget: an allowance of 100 euros p.p. is available. You can request for special material costs.
There is room for 12 participants. We start Friday afternoon and present the final projects playfully in Artphy or outside in the garden on Sunday afternoon.
This flash residency weekend is organized by Artphy in collaboration with Roland van Dierendonck, Peter van der Putten and Creative Coding Utrecht.
Registration closes on Monday February 24, 23:59, 2025. Artphy will then make a selection based on the submissions. The location is: Kunsthal Artphy, Kempkebosweg 4, 9591 VG Onstwedde/Wessinghuizen. Email address for correspondence: Artphywessinghuizen@gmail.com.
About Artphy
Artphy Foundation encourages, organizes, praises and exhibits the development of AI art in relation to the development towards AC art in the coming years.
Artphy art gallery is located a beautiful park/landscape garden of over an acre. The large pond is bordered by many types of trees and shrubs.
With the park garden and large outdoor area near Artphy, bordering the stream valley of the Ruiten Aa, this natural setting is particularly suitable for experiments at the intersection of man, nature and technology.
About the expo AI Ecologies: nature, man and technology.
The line between artificial and natural is blurring: How do humans, nature and technology live together, now and in the future? How does the development of Artificial Intelligence affect our relationship with nature? Will we soon be able to talk with birds, dance with microbes or study the emotional life of plants? What do AI and robotization mean for our relationship with nature? What might nature-inspired AI look like now and in the future?
The exhibition AI Ecologies in June 2025 explores the intersection of Artificial Creativity and the future of nature and technology. Following the first exhibition Ars Intelligentia in spring 2024, which painted a picture about the rise of AI in the arts, this exhibition by Artphy explores what happens when AI makes the leap from the digital realm to the living environment. And are we growing toward Artificial Creativity?
