Faculty fellows of the Clemson University Robert H. Brooks Sports Science Institute may apply for annual professional development funding through the proposal process below. Proposals can request funds in support of their specialized work that aligns and supports the mission of the Institute. Funding can include sports-research conference and event travel (registration fees, lodging and transportation), open access fees for publications, training and certifications, etc.
For the 2027 fiscal year (July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027), fellows may apply for up to $1,500 in funding, once per year. A budget of $25,000 has been established for fiscal year 2027. Funds will be awarded until this budget has been allocated.
Awarded faculty funds may require departmental transfer, Institute p-card use or other administrative processes that may require faculty monitoring. Faculty activities related to these funds will be promoted by the Institute, and faculty will be required to report on the outcomes of their spending after the purchase or event has taken place. Mis-used funds may result in administrative actions. Unused funds may be re-captured by the Institute.
Consideration for funding will be based on alignment of the proposed activities with the mission of the Institute, impact of the funding on faculty academic and professional outcomes, other recent funding of faculty activities by the Institute, and recent faculty support and participation in the activities of the Institute.
After your request has been submitted, please expect a response in 5-7 business days and, if awarded, further instructions on the receipt of funds and how to report outcomes.
